Dietary Substitutions for All-American BBQ

Gluten Free
American Flag Cake >> Use gluten-free flour.
BBQ Chicken Dippers >> Use tamari, a gluten-free soy sauce.
Classic Macaroni Salad >> Use gluten-free pasta.

Vegetarian
BBQ Chicken Dippers >> Use Beyond Meat Grilled Chicken Strips instead of chicken.  Use a vegan Worcestershire sauce, such as Annie’s Naturals.

Dairy Allergy
American Flag Cake >> Use dairy-free butter (such as Earth Balance) and milk (such as almond or coconut) for the cake. Use dairy free butter and cream cheese (such as Tofutti, Follow Your Heart, or Kite Hill) for the topping.

Vegan
American Flag Cake >> Use dairy-free butter (such as Earth Balance) and milk (such as almond or coconut) for the cake. Instead of eggs, use a replacer such as Follow Your Heart’s VeganEgg or a flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flax seed combined with 3 tablespoons of water) for every egg needed.  Use dairy free butter and cream cheese (such as Tofutti, Follow Your Heart, or Kite Hill) for the topping.
BBQ Chicken Dippers >> Use Beyond Meat Grilled Chicken Strips instead of chicken. Use agave instead of honey, and vegan Worcestershire sauce, such as Annie’s Naturals.
Classic Macaroni Salad >> Use a dairy free mayonnaise, such as Follow Your Heart’s Vegennaise.
