Dietary Substitutions for Chinese, Please!

We strive to accommodate the needs of all families. Below please find recommended substitutes for our Rad-Families with dietary restrictions, compliments of VeegMama, a lifestyle blog sharing new approaches to healthy living through food, wellness, and personal fulfillment.

Gluten-Free
Egg Drop Soup >> Be sure you are using a cornstarch that is gluten-free and processed in a plant that is gluten-free.
New Year’s Dumplings >> Use gluten-free gyoza wrappers (available online).  Use tamari instead of soy sauce.
Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry >> Be sure you are using a cornstarch that is gluten-free and processed in a plant that is gluten-free.  Use tamari instead of soy sauce.

Egg Allergy
Egg Drop Soup >> Omit the eggs.  Cut 4 ounces of tofu into thin strips (or crumble, if desired).  Add to the pot after Step 5.
New Year’s Dumplings >> Use eggless gyoza wrappers (available in Asian grocery stores.)

Vegetarian
Egg Drop Soup >> Use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
New Year’s Dumplings >> Instead of pork, use a vegan beef alternative, such as Beyond Meat, Yves, or Lightlife’s Gimme Lean Beef.
Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry >> Instead of beef, use Gardein’s Beefless Tips.

Vegan
Egg Drop Soup >> Use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. Omit the eggs.  Cut 4 ounces of tofu into thin strips (or crumble, if desired).  Add to the pot after Step 5.
